Introduction
NOTE: Wyoming was a Territory in
1868 and then the 44th State
in 1890. We find in our research that before
1800, only a few fur traders and explorers were in the Wyoming region.
Fort Laramie was the first settlement after the Overland Trail was opened
by the American and Rocky Mountain Fur Companies, in 1834. The second
was Fort Bridger in 1842. Wyoming was included in Dakota Territory,
when it was established in 1861. Laramie County was organized in
1867 and included all the present state of Wyoming. After the Union
Pacific Railroad was built the towns of Laramie, Cheyenne, Rawlins, Rock
Springs, Green River and Evanston were created. The capital
is located in Cheyenne, WY.
Our Goal: Digging for our TOTTY Roots
and finding all the leaves to our TOTTY Tree.
