The County of Chesterfield County,Virginia
was created in 1749 from Henrico County. Henrico
County, Virginia was one of the original Shires of Virginia created
in 1634. The Chesterfield county seat is located in Chesterfield,
VA.
Unless otherwise noted, the following records
were extracted and/or submitted by TOTTY researcher Birdie (Totty) McNutt
1693 Birth of . William
W. TOTTY, son of Thomas and Mary TOTTY, Sr. Henrico County, VA
Notes: He was born in Bristol
Parish, Henrico County, Virginia, and died Bef. October 05, 1759 in
Dale
Parish, Chesterfield County, Virginia. He married Mary Unknown
Abt. 1720 in of Henrico County, Virginia. She died Aft. 1765 in Dale
Parish, Chesterfield County, Virginia. William was the son of Thomas
and Mary TOTTY, his mother was the widow of Thomas DAVIS before
her marriage to Thomas TOTTY. William TOTTY is hereinafter
called William TOTTY, Sr.
ca 1720 Marriage William TOTTY,
Sr. to Mary Unknown Henrico County, VA
Notes: William is the son of Thomas
TOTTY and Mary nee Carter, widow of Thomas DAVIS. We are still
progress of identifying the maiden name of William's wife Mary. Some
researcher's claim that William TOTTY, Sr. born 1693 was married
to Mary HAESTIN/HASTINGS born 1745, however this is NOT possible since
she was born long AFTER the birth of William and Mary's children as documented
in the Bristol Parish Records of Henrico. Mary HASTINGS TOTTY
was the daughter of John and Amy TUCKER HAESTIN-HASTINGS who were married
in 1739. Mary named in her father John HASTINGS will, was likely
to have married William TOTTY, Jr. who was born March 15, 1726/7
However we are still in the process of documenting which TOTTY she was
actually married to.
ca 1720-1725 Birth of Elizabeth
TOTTY, Henrico County, Virginia;
Notes: Elizabeth was the daughter
of William and Mary TOTTY, Sr. She may likely have been the Elizabeth
who was marreid to Henry VADEN, Jr. that is mentioned in records with Thomas
and his son William TOTTY, however this is still under research.

in Chesterfield County before moving to Halifax County, NC likely bef 1790,
as he is not found on the 1790 Head of HH for Virginia. He died sometime

TOTTY, Henrico County, Virginia

TOTTY.

CAN ANYONE help on the below TOTTY families,
PLEASE!!! Looked at the original 1810 census records on microfilm
M252-67, for our TOTTY families and transcribed them as follows:
TOTTY, Harriet Chesterfield Co., VA
page 54 212010321105
[BTM] Who was Harriet married to? and what was
her maiden name? She was over 45 and has a male listed in HH over
45, was this her TOTTY husband or possibly her father?? She had a
big family according to this census.
TOTTY, Abnor Chesterfield Co., VA
page 55 001000000000
[BTM] Which Abnor TOTTY is this? He was
age 16 to 26.
[CW] Abnor is probably the son of John Totty,
Jr. and wife (or 2nd wife) Hastin Tamer. John is probably the son
of John & Mary Totty with siblings of Benjamin Green Totty, Elizabeth
'Betsey' married Cousins, Milley married Blankenship, Margaret
married Dishman and Phoebe ?
John Jr.'s will was written Sept 8, 1794 and probated July 11, 1795 in
Chesterfield Co, VA. It mentions sons:
Archibald, John, Abner(This is the one I believe you have listed in the
1810 census)
wife: Hastin Tamer; Dau: Mary & Lucy (by
1st wife??) and Rachel Beavel. Abner, I believe married Edith Partram
on Nov 7, 1811 in Chesterfield Co,VA.
[BTM] I only have one wife listed for John
TOTTY, Jr. Can you tell us who the first wife possibly
was? if he had been married before. I do not show a wife other than
Hastin Tamer Beavel TOTTY. Thanks for your idea's.
TOTTY, William Chesterfield Co., VA page
55 200101001000
[BTM] This William is age 26 to 45 and
has a wife in same age bracket with 2 sons under 10 and one daughter under
10.
TOTTY, Nancy Chesterfield Co., VA
page 63 310002111000
[BTM] Was Nancy's maiden name COUSINS and was
her husband Benjamin Green TOTTY deceased? I show children for them
named as: sons: John and George; with daughters: Nancy, Elizabeth
and Mary Ann. Who was the third son and fourth daughter. Is
this the correct family? Can anyone give us more detail's on the family?
OR most likely
was this Nancy FOWLER TOTTY wife of Jesse TOTTY, who was deceased by June
8, 1795??
[CW] Nancy who married Benjamin Green
Totty (he didn't die before 1810 - so where would he be?) I don't have
any other children either. I don't believe it could be
the one who married Jesse Totty as he died before mid-1795 and there are
5 children in this household that were born between 1800 and 1810 (3 boys
and 2 girls.) Anybody else have other ideas?
[BTM] Just a thought, but in household
of Nancy, [possibly Fowler] TOTTY, there is also a female age 16-26 who
could possibly be a daughter in law, married to Jesse TOTTY, Jr. born 1785.
These young children could be grandchildren of Nancy [Fowler] TOTTY.
Could Jesse Jr. also have died prior to this 1810 census?
1826 July 10th Marriage of Sally TOTTY
to Daniel VADEN, Chesterfield County, Virginia
Notes: Daniel Vaden was the son of Verlinche
Moore Vaden the daughter of George and Frances Moore. Daniel and
Sally had children Appeloney, Elizabeth and Mase VADEN.
