Introduction
The County of Denton was created from FanninCounty in 1846, and organized the same year. Denton is located in North Central Texas and was named for pioneer minister John B. Denton. The county seat is located in Denton. Thus far we have only found the following TOTTY & related families in this county.

Notes: Elizbabeth Menasco SHEEGOG
was the wife of Edward SHEEGOG, son of James E. and Louisa ESTES SHEEGOG,
daughter of Matilda Easley Estes TOTTY and s-dau of Robert of Halifax
County, NC, Hickman
County, TN and Montague Co., TX. Elizabeth was the
daughter of Unnamed Menasco, her father who was killed in a Indian
Attack January 1868 in Rosston, Texas. Elizabeth
Menasco SHEEGOG was also captured in the same Indian Attack, along with
her children who were captured and killed. Edward was on the
1860 census for Cooke
County page 257, HouseHold 533/553. Nannie J.
Sheegog was the dau of Edward and Elizabeth.
