The County of Sumner County was created in 1786
from Davidson County, Davidson County from Washington County in 1783 which
covered the present State. The county seat is located in Lebanon,
TN. The State of Tennessee was created in 1796..

No. 4709 Jonas TOLLEY, private in the N. C. Cont. Line; 640 acres;
issued 14 Feb. 1797. The warrant was endorsed to Sterling Brewer
on 19 Feb. 1797, with Jesse Sharp and Joseph Maroom as witnesses.
The land was in Sumner Co., Tenn., Mero District, located on the waters
of White Oak Creek and Indian Creek. Jonas TALLEY or TOLLEY
served in the N.C. Cont. Line during the Rev. War and was discharged at
the end of the war. Certified 14 July 1796 by G. Bradley, Capt.,
and John Medearis, Capt.

Notes: BTM] This is likely John PARKER husband
of Mary White PARKER, with son's Benjamin F. W. and Joseph Allen PARKER
as witnesses along with Washington Perkins. John and his family
were later found in Limestone County Texas, where the famous Indian
attack at Fort Parker occurred on May 19, 1836. John was killed
along with his son Silas Mercer PARKER and his daughter in law Lucinda
(Duty) PARKER, parents of Cynthia Ann PARKER who was abducted by the Indians
at the age of 9 years. She later married Peta Nocona and eventually
had two sons, Chief Quanah Parker and Pecos, and a daughter, Topsannah.
John PARKER was the son of Nathaniel and Sarah
Ann (Clayton) PARKER who had other childredn among whom was Daniel PARKER
married to Mary Ann (Easley) PARKER. Their daughter Susannah PARKER
born June 26 1784 in Georgia, was married to widower David SPRADLING in
Tennessee ca 1820-1821. It has long been a tradition of the TOTTY
families that we were kin to Cynthia Ann PARKER.
Susannah PARKER (Spencer) SPRADLING was the
parents of Rhoda May SPRADLING TOTTY my 3rd great grandmother who wrote
the diaries I am transcribing for the TOTTY families.

Sarah WILLIS including house whereon Mathew Rice lived”.
And Sarah to have place on which Wm. Edwards formerly lived on Station

6 April 1826. A law suit against Moly Mary N. BOWEN and
Samuel A. BROWN Circuit Court Sumner Co. commenced by me against
David
S. WILLIS. Codicil. I loaned $1000 to Wm. EDWARDS further
mention of land on Station Camp Creek.

KNOW ALL MEN, That we Thomas COMBS and John ANDERSON
of the county of Sumner and State of Tennesse, are held and firmly bound
unto the GOVERNOR of the said State, for the time being, or his successors
in office, in the penal sum of Twelve Hundred and Fifty Dollars, to be
void on condition that there be no lawful objection why Thomas COMBS and
Anna ANDERSON may not be joined together as husband and wife, in the holy
estate of Matrimony. Witness our hands and seals this 30th day of
May A.D. 1829.
