The County of Pottawatomie was created as an
Original County from the Pottawatomie-Shawnee Lands in 1891. The
County seat was originally located in Tecumseh, OK but is now located at
present in Shawnee, OK. Thus far the records for our TOTTY
& related families are as follows;
Census Records
1894 April 18 Early
Day Settlers [page 35 Towns and Communities of Pottawatomie
County, Oklahoma. Book on Pottawatomie County Oklahoma History, compiled
and edited by Pottawatomie County History Book Committee. Published by
Country Lane Press Claremore, Oklahoma ©1987] The township of
Cook, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. Location: SW 1/4, Sec. 5, T8N, R5E.
Five miles north of Maud. Date Established: April 18, 1894 until November
15, 1904. First Postmaster: Randolph Cook. Named After: Randolph
Cook. The original application for a post office was for "Cook's Store".
The grandfather of Randolph Cook fought in the War of 1812 for General
Jackson at New Orleans. His brother was John Cook that lived in Maud. Other
early day settlers near the town were: Thomas H. Haskill, F. W. Gunn, Zoa
Whitman, Max Krouch, Edgar E. Poe, John P. Ryker, Frank Rose, Zora Storm,
John G. Garby, William Johnson, Joseph B. Van Meter, J. P. Tolen, Sara
M. Owens, Robert A. Sandefur and
R. C. TOTTIE.
Note: The above R. C. TOTTIE may
likely be Robert Caroll TOTTY who married Nora WALL, but I have no documented
proof thusfar. Does any body have other ideas
on who this R. C. TOTTIE would be?
1977 April 12th Death
of Freddie Franklin HOISINGTON Shawnee, Ok
Notes: Freddie Franklin HOISINGTON was
born April 7, 1893 in Crescent, Logan
County, OK to Daniel Jesse and Mary Elizabeth HATFIELD HOISINGTON.
Freddie was the father of Lorena Pearl HOISINGTON TOTTY wife of Vernon
Estell TOTTY, son of Green Whitfield TOTTY and Hattie Lee ROGERS TOTTY.
Freddie was married to Birdie Lorena COMBS HOISINGTON on March 6th 1922
in Kaw City, Kay
County, Oklahoma. Their first daughter Lorena was born there
on February 2nd, 1923.
1979 January 31st Death
of Birdie Lorena COMBS HOISINGTON Oklahoma
City, OK with burial in Shawnee, Tecumseh Mission Hill Cemetery
on February 2nd, 1979.
Notes: Birdie Lorena COMBS was the first
and only daughter of Albert Grant COMBS and Hulda Mae PROBASCO, she was
born in Kaw City, Kay County, Oklahoma on February 12, 1905.
Her father later moved to Crescent, Logan Co. OK for a short while
but returned to Kay County, OK where he died October 5, 1934.
Birdie was raised by her step mother Effie R. HAYCRAFT COMBS, the 3rd wife
of Albert G. COMBS. Hulda Mae PROBASCO COMBS died there on
November 30th, 1908 after the birth of her 2nd child, a son Claudie Miller
COMBS who was born on November 20th, 1908. Birdie Lorena COMBS
HOISINGTON was the Grandmother of TOTTY researcher Birdie TOTTY McNutt.

OBITUARY Mrs. Lorena TOTTY
Mrs. Lorena Pearl (Hoisington) TOTTY, of 206
N. Aydelotte, Shawnee, died Monday, April 9th, in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be a 2 p.m. Thursday
at the Gaskill Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. C.L. WILLIAMS officiating.
Burial will be in the Mission Cemetery, Tecumseh.
Mrs. TOTTY was born Feb. 2, 1923 in Kaw
City. She had lived in Oklahoma and California, and moved to Shawnee
in 1959.
Survivors include children, Mr. and Mrs.
Harry G. (JoAnn) PARK, Pennsylvania, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne T. (Birdie) MCNUTT,
Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon TOTTY Jr, California, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert TOTTY,
Duncan, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. (Mary Sue) PETERMAN, McLoud, Mr. and Mrs. J.L.
(Glenda) BROWN, Shawnee, Mr. and Mrs. S.M. (Verena) SMITH, Sallisaw, Donna
SMITH, Midland, Texas, and Claude TOTTY of the home; a sister Vera (HOISINGTON)
FAIN PITTS, Shawnee; five brothers, Freddrick HOISINGTON, Tecumseh, D.J.
HOISINGTON and Trueland HOISINGTON, both of Texas, Aubrey HOISINGTON, Shawnee,
and Kenneth HOISINGTON, Alaska; 22 grandchildren, and a number of nieces,
nephews and cousins.

OBITUARY VERNON
ESTELL TOTTY
Vernon Estell TOTTY of Tecumseh died Saturday
[November 21, 1998] in an Oklahoma City Hospital [Presbyterian]. He was
78.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at
Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Darin Powers officiating. Burial
will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Vernon Estell TOTTY was born June
2, 1920, in Indiahoma<sic>[should be Iowa Park, Wichita
County], Texas, to Green Whitfield TOTTY and Hattie Lee ROGERS.
He married [2nd] Hildegard Markmann in Tacoma, Wash., on Dec. 27, 1962.
He earned his GED and served in
the U.S. Army during World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He
was a staff sergeant and retired in 1967 with the National Defense Service
Medal and an Expert Marksman Badge. He also retired from employment
with the State of California. He had lived in Shawnee for 11 years
and was Baptist.
Preceding him in death were his
parents, and two brothers, Floyd Leroy TOTTY [1909-1970]and Delbert Chan
TOTTY[1927-1967], [and one sister Trudie Velvet Jane TOTTY 1911-1913] .
Surving {are withheld due to privacy
of Living} [they included his wife and 9 children, 3 sisters and
2 brothers still living] 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
NOTE: He was first married to Lorena
Pearl HOISINGTON on August 2, 1939. She was born Feb.
2, 1923, died April 9, 1984. They were divorced after 23 years
of marriage on June 13, 1962 in Shawnee, Pottawatomie
County, Oklahoma. Lorena was the mother of all 9 of his children.
She was the daughter of Freddie
Franklin HOISINGTON and Birdie
Lorena COMBS.

in law Birdie Totty McNutt]
S.T. McNutt
S.T. McNutt, 83, Shawnee, died Monday in a local
hospital. He was born April 28, 1917, in Corbit, Okla., the
son of Emmit Edgar McNutt and Tishie Ella (Tipton) McNutt. He attended
school in Lexington, Okla. On July 23, 1938, he and Inez Crosslin were
married in Lexington. McNutt, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was
a longtime member of the Central Church of Christ. A carpenter,
McNutt worked with several companies, including R.C. Nicholson Co. and
Ernie Cowan Co., retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Carpenters'Union
for more than 50 years. He had lived in Shawnee for 54
years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two
brothers, Earl McNutt and Clayborn McNutt; three sisters,Vera McNutt, Ruby
Carter, and Nina Davison; and two granddaughters, Cheryl Smith and Diana
Anthony.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three
sons and daughters-in-law, ...................; fourdaughters and sons-in-law,
................; 25 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Central Church
of Christ, 10th and Bell Streets. Don Sullivan will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements
are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Central Church of Christ.
BTM: Spurgeon Thomas McNutt was my father
in law. He was a great christian man who lived for GOD, his Wife
and family. They were all so special to him, including his son's
in law and daughter's in law. My oldest son, once said, "He is the
perfect picture of what a Grand-pa is supposed to look like and be".
I loved him dearly.

Vera Mae Fain
Vera Mae Fain, 70, Shawnee, died Monday in an
Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Kaw
City, Okla., to Freddy[Freddie] Franklin Hoisington and Birdie Lorena (Combs)
Hoisington. She attended school at Bethel Acres.
She was an aide at the ACH Hospital in Shawnee,
and was a nurse at Mission Hill Memorial Hospital. She retired from Shawnee
Medical Center. On Sept. 28, 1946, she and Cliffton Reaves Fain were
married in Shawnee.
Mrs. Fain was a member of Johnson Pentecostal
Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband; her
parents[Freddie Franklin and Birdie Lorena (Combs) HOISINGTON] ; three
brothers, Freddie [Frederick Franklin] Hoisington, Trueland [Love]Hoisington
and D.J. Hoisington; and her sister, Lorena Pearl Totty.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law,
..................; two sons, .................; two brothers,.................;
seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at
Johnson Cemetery. Leroy Kerbo will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens
Funeral Chapel.
The names of the LIVING children were omitted
by me, for Right's to their PRIVACY.
BTM: Vera Mae HOISINGTON FAIN was the only
sister of my mother Lorena Pearl HOISINGTON TOTTY. She will
be greatly missed by all the family.
