Introduction

The County of Morgan was created in 1807 from Baldwin, and Jasper Counties. The county seat is in Madison, GA. Baldwin was originally part of the Creek Indian Lands in 1803 and in 1812 Jasper was created from Baldwin changed from Randolph in 1812.

1827 Jun 7    [The Georgians Genealogies of Pioneer Settlers by Jeannette Holland Austin, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc
Baltimore 1984. page 25] 1827 June 18    [Southern Recorder]: "on evening of 7th inst., John TOTTY, a merchant of Clarke Co. to Martha E. BEALLE, dau. of Col. Thaddeus BEALLE of Morgan Co."
Note: Martha E. BEALLE was the daughter of Mary (JONES) BEALLE and Thaddeus BEALLE, s/o Josehp BEALLE of Warren Co., Georgia.   Thadeua and Mary BEALLE are found in the Chambers Co., Alabama Census records of 1850 & 1860.   We are still in the process of trying to identify the parents of John TOTTY of Clarke Co. Georgia.   Can anybody help us identify who this John TOTTY belongs to? webmaster@totty-families.org
